Below is a preview of how Arctic Rim built their site navigation for their team site in the Refined Site Builder. The dashboard is the default home page for your site, but you can choose to use a space homepage as the landing page for your site. To edit an existing macro, click the macro placeholder and choose Edit. A macro dialog window will open, where you can edit the parameters of the macro.
We will also add a custom heading field to display it on the space home page. Start sites if you want users to log in and begin at a specific site. View permissions to define who can see what content on a site, category and layout content sections. Start sites allow you to set home pages according to users or user groups. So when members of Arctic Rim’s IT team log in, for example, they could be automatically directed to their IT team space homepage.

You can change the space layout on a global level and on individual spaces, and you can also make templates to reuse on several spaces. Space layouts surround all the pages in a given space. By setting up different space layouts you can customize what users see on the space and adapt them for different use cases. Parent pages keep spaces organized by telling users where to drop new pages—not to mention they help everyone find what they need easily, especially as the number of pages in your instance grows. It’s a hub for news, projects, information and documentation within and across teams. You can get more stuff done faster, without leaving anyone behind.
If your site is public, you'll also need to make sure anonymous users have permissions to view the space, otherwise anonymous users will be directed to the dashboard instead. Use the recently updated macro to display a list of content that has been updated most recently. You can adjust the macro settings to display content from the current space only, or from related spaces as well. Use the livesearch macro to add a search box to the overview, then adjust the macro settings so the search only returns results from the current space. Use the user profile macro to display a short summary of a specific Confluence user, including their profile photo, role, and contact details. If it's important for your visitors to know about the latest changes to your space, you can use the Recently Updated Macroto display a list of the most recently updated content.
